    Dampness and food choice

Brain fog. Sluggishness. Digestive woes. Bloating. Constipation. Sweet cravings. Nausea. Edema. Sore joints. Swelling. Sleep difficulties. Feelings of overwhelm. Phlegm. These are all signs of what is called dampness in Chinese medicine.

  • ArtemisiaO'bi_BuildingBlood

    Building blood

There are Chinese herbal formulas that can be worked with specifically to build blood. Most, if not all, of these formulas contain plants that have an affinity to the spleen, liver, or both. Whenever we build blood, it is critical to also move the blood. If we build blood without moving it, stasis (stagnation) can arise.

  • ArtemisiaO'bi_Calm

    Finding calm

There is a formula called Gan Mai Da Zao Tang or Licorice, Wheat, and Jujube Deoction that contains only three herbs. It is classified as an herbal formula that nourishes the Heart and calms the Shen (spirit), which in modern terms we describe as a formula that supports emotional regulation and ease.

Artemisia O'bi

Hi, I’m Artemisia O’bi - I’m happy you’re here and interested in what brings you. I started my practice to help people learn how to embrace the brilliance of Chinese medicine in their everyday lives. I would love to work with you.

In our sessions, I’ll combine my training in Chinese herbal medicine and dietary therapy with my background in psychological research to assess disharmonies in your health, design a plan for you, and help you learn how to support yourself with Chinese medicine.

There are many branches of Chinese medicine that overlap and intersect. I primarily work with herbs and food. I have studied Chinese and western herbs, and I apply the framework of Chinese medicine to all of these plants, regardless of their region of origin. You can learn more about my background here, and we can stay connected through my weekly Notes From Artemisia newsletter.

Some of the imbalances I commonly work with include:

○ Emotional: anxiety, depressed states, mood swings, irritability, sleep challenges

○ Digestive: gas, pain, and bloating, IBS, reflux, difficult digestion

○ Women: painful or irregular menstrual cycles, PMS, menopausal difficulties
